Use Email-Slicer with confidence from design import to Klaviyo export

Detailed operational guidance for preparing designs, reviewing slices, enriching content, choosing the correct organization and Klaviyo account, and resolving common blockers.

Looking for a concise product overview? How It Works explains the value and five-stage production pass. This page covers the operating details.

Start Here

Start Here

Set up your account and workspace, then begin a project in the correct organization.

Getting Started

The shortest path from a new account to a reviewed Klaviyo template.

  1. Create an account or accept an organization invitation, then verify your email address before entering the workspace or using product workflows.

  2. Confirm the active organization from the account menu before you start work for a client or team.

  3. Start a slicer project with a JPG or PNG, or use Figma import when it is available to your organization.

  4. Review the detected structure, enrich the slices, select the intended Klaviyo account, and export.

  5. Open the completed template in Klaviyo for final editing, testing, scheduling, and sending.

Accounts & Sessions

Sign-in, verification, and session behavior that affects access to the application.

  • Email verification is required before normal product workflows become available, including workspace provisioning, projects, organizations, integrations, billing, and exports.
  • Before verification, you can resend or complete verification, recover your password, sign out, use supported invitation links, and access public help and legal pages.
  • After verification succeeds, Email-Slicer refreshes your signed Firebase session and opens the product without requiring logout and login.
  • Your browser keeps the signed-in session locally so you do not need to authenticate on every visit.
  • For security, an inactive session may expire. Sign in again when prompted to continue.
  • Private browsing, cleared site data, or browser storage restrictions can end a session earlier.

Organizations

Projects, integrations, teammates, permissions, billing, and usage belong to the active organization.

A user can belong to more than one organization. The organization selected in the account menu determines which projects, connected accounts, members, plan limits, and usage you see.

Start a Project

Choose the design source first; a Klaviyo connection is only required when you are ready to export.

  1. Open the slicer and confirm the organization shown in the workspace.

  2. Upload a supported image or choose the Figma option when your workspace has access.

  3. Wait for preparation and slice detection to finish, then review the proposed guides.

  4. Continue through enrichment and select a Klaviyo account during final review.

Import a Design

Import a Design

Bring an approved image or Figma frame into the same review workflow.

Image Upload

Use a production-ready JPG or PNG that stays within the current processing limits.

RequirementCurrent limit
FormatJPG/JPEG or PNG
File sizeUp to 10 MiB (10,485,760 bytes); larger files are rejected
Maximum width8,000 pixels
Maximum height20,000 pixels
Maximum total size25 million pixels
  • Export the complete email design as one image rather than pre-cutting it into many files.
  • Use a clear, final design. Strong visual section boundaries help detection propose useful guides.
  • If validation fails, reduce file size or pixel dimensions and try again without changing the intended layout.

Figma Import

Import a selected top-level frame when Figma is enabled and available to the active organization.

  1. Ask an Owner or Samurai to connect the organization’s Figma account from Settings > Design Accounts if no usable connection exists.

  2. In the slicer, choose the Figma import option and paste a link to the selected top-level frame.

  3. Choose the available Figma connection when prompted, then start the import.

  4. After import, continue through the normal preparation, slicing, enrichment, and Klaviyo export stages.

Prepare & Edit

Prepare & Edit

Review the detected structure and make deliberate changes before content enrichment.

Slicer Workflow

Every project moves through Upload, Prepare, Slice, Generate Alt Texts, and Upload to ESP.

  1. Upload: validate and load the approved design.

  2. Prepare: analyze the design and prepare the visual structure.

  3. Slice: review, add, move, remove, and confirm slice guides and column groups.

  4. Generate Alt Texts: review alt text, links, variants, editable text, and Universal Content.

  5. Upload to ESP: choose the destination Klaviyo account, name the template, resolve blockers, and export.

Slicing & Guides

Use horizontal guides to define the sections that will become image or editable content blocks.

  • Drag a guide to align it with the intended section boundary.
  • Double-click in the preview to add a new horizontal guide.
  • Remove a guide when it creates an unnecessary or unsafe slice.
  • Inspect narrow separators, overlapping content, and text crossing a proposed boundary before confirming.

Column Splits

Divide a row into independently editable or linked columns when the visual structure calls for it.

Email-Slicer supports row splits of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, or 12 equal columns. Use a split for repeated products, cards, icons, or other side-by-side items that require separate links or alt text.

Back to Slicing

Return from final review to correct structure without blindly discarding all completed work.

Back to Slicing compares the new structure with the previous one when you confirm the changes.

  • Exact-match slices keep valid metadata.
  • Changed or new slices clear crop-dependent alt text, links, mobile variants, text analysis, and generated export assets.
  • Removed slices are removed from the project structure.
  • Universal Content whose placement becomes ambiguous must be reinserted or removed before export.

Mobile Variants

Use a separate mobile image only when the approved mobile design differs from the desktop slice.

  • Upload and crop the mobile variant for the intended slice, then save it before export.
  • Remove a variant when the desktop asset should be used at all widths.
  • Editable text blocks do not use image-crop variants in the same way as image slices.
  • After returning to slicing, changed slice geometry may require the mobile variant to be created again.

Enrich Content

Enrich Content

Make each confirmed section accessible, linked, responsive, and appropriately editable.

Alt Text

Review generated descriptions and provide meaningful alternatives for image content.

  • Review the suggested alt text for accuracy and context rather than accepting it automatically.
  • Use Improve ALT-Text with AI when you want another suggestion, then review the result before export.
  • Mark purely decorative image slices as decorative instead of describing them.
  • If automatic generation is unavailable, add required alt text manually.

Editable Text

Convert eligible image regions into editable Klaviyo text blocks and review the analyzed content and styling.

  • Choose text conversion only for sections that should remain editable in Klaviyo.
  • Wait while analysis is pending; template export is blocked until required analysis finishes.
  • Review the text and styling when analysis completes, especially when a limited-accuracy warning appears.
  • If reliable text cannot be prepared, correct it manually or keep the section as an image.

Universal Content

Insert supported content from the selected Klaviyo account into the email editor.

  1. Select a connected Klaviyo account during final review.

  2. Use Add Universal Content in the editor and choose a supported item from that account.

  3. Place the item in the export order. When the option is shown, use Keep this universal content by default to reuse content placed before or after the generated slices for that integration.

  4. If reslicing makes placement ambiguous, reinsert the item at a new position or remove it before export.

Export to Klaviyo

Export to Klaviyo

Connect the correct account, complete final review, and create the template through Klaviyo OAuth.

Connect Klaviyo

Authorize an organization-scoped Klaviyo account through the official OAuth flow.

  1. An Owner or Samurai opens Settings > ESP Accounts and chooses to connect Klaviyo.

  2. Complete the authorization in Klaviyo and return to Email-Slicer.

  3. Confirm that the account appears active and usable in the current organization.

  4. Reconnect the account if Email-Slicer reports expired authorization or missing permissions for a current feature.

Klaviyo Accounts

Select the exact client or brand account intended to receive the template.

  • Available accounts belong to the active organization.
  • A Ninja sees only assigned integrations; an Owner or Samurai can update assignments in Settings.
  • The selected account determines destination-specific defaults and the final template destination.
  • A disconnected, unavailable, or unassigned account cannot be used for export.

Review & Export

Resolve the final blockers, create the Klaviyo template, and continue final production in Klaviyo.

  1. Review slice count, alt-text completion, links, editable-text states, mobile variants, and export order.

  2. Resolve or remove every Universal Content item that needs attention.

  3. Choose the destination Klaviyo account and enter a clear template name.

  4. Generate the template and wait for Klaviyo to return a successful result and template identifier.

  5. Open the result in Klaviyo for final editing, link testing, previews, scheduling, and sending.

Klaviyo Data Reference

Understand the user-facing data needed for connection and template creation.

DataHow Email-Slicer uses it
Account and connection metadataIdentifies and displays the connected destination account.
AuthorizationLets the server perform the Klaviyo actions you approve; credentials are not exposed in the browser.
Image assetsUploads the reviewed image slices needed by the generated template.
Template contentCreates the reviewed structure, editable blocks, links, alt text, and inserted content.
Universal Content catalogReads supported items for selection when the connection has the required permission.

Teams & Usage

Teams & Usage

Manage people, account access, plan capacity, and resumable work inside each organization.

Team Management

Use roles and member status to control who manages the organization and who produces templates.

RoleTypical capabilities
OwnerControls billing, members, integrations, assignments, and organization settings.
SamuraiManages normal team and integration workflows, and can invite Ninjas where plan capacity allows.
NinjaProduces work with the integrations assigned to them; does not manage billing or connections.

Invitations and membership belong to an organization. A collaborator may be stored but inactive, while active collaborators count toward the current plan’s active-member capacity.

Integration Assignments

Limit a Ninja to the client accounts they are expected to use.

  • Owners and Samurais manage connected ESP and design accounts for the organization.
  • Assign only the required Klaviyo accounts to each Ninja.
  • A missing account in the slicer can mean the wrong active organization, no assignment, a disconnected account, or an unavailable plan feature.
  • Recheck assignments when a member changes clients, role, or active status.

Plans & Usage

Usage, connected accounts, and collaborator capacity are evaluated for the active organization.

  • Available plans, trials, and usage allowances depend on the organization’s current eligibility and status and are shown in the product.
  • Plans can provide different project, connected-account, and collaboration capacities.
  • Only the organization Owner manages subscription changes through Billing and Stripe.
  • Eligible organizations may see a time-limited trial offer. Availability, duration, and included access are shown in the product.
  • Private or custom tiers may not appear in the public pricing comparison.

Dashboard

Review organization-scoped activity and return to work that has not reached a completed export.

  • Review completed projects, produced slices, and estimated time saved.
  • Filter project history by completion status, date, Klaviyo account, or member when those filters are available to your role.
  • Resume an eligible incomplete project to continue final-stage review and export.
  • Dismiss an incomplete project to remove it from the incomplete list. Dismissal is not described as deleting the underlying project.
  • Switch organizations before reviewing history for a different team or client.
